The rapid growth of hotel and tourism in Uganda , the need for skilled labor force as well as ready employment of catering graduates have all contributed greatly to the expansion of the catering department over years in terms of students enrollment at Uganda College of Commerce Kabale.

The government of Uganda recognizing the need to move from theoretical based training to a more practical approach recently refurbished the catering department.  It row boasts of a modern laboratory with running water where every student can work individually. The department also has a restaurant, bar as well as a self contained bedroom for demonstration during classes. The catering department also boasts of state of the art equipment. Electrical and gas cookers, blenders, gas burners, cooker, cutters, cutlery, crockery, saucepans to mention but a few.

Catering department offers diploma and certificate programs namely;

  • Diploma in Hotel and institutional catering. (DHIC)
  • Diploma in tourism and hospitality management. (DTHM)
  • National certificate in hotel and institutional catering. (CHIC)
  • National certificate in tourism and hospitality management . (NCTHM)
